The City of Fairlawn has sirens located in three areas of the city to alert the residents should tornados or other severe weather be threatening the area. The sirens are located in Croghan Park, Griffiths Park, and at the intersection of Rothrock Rd. and S. Cleve-Mass Rd.
They are tested every Wednesday at noon. Should the sirens be activated at any time other than the normal testing time, please turn on your radio or television for further information about the weather. Do not call the police department unless you have an emergency.
Once the sirens are activated for weather-related reasons, the Communications Specialists have several local schools, daycare centers, nursing homes, and businesses that they need to notify of the impending severe weather, as well as handling normal incoming calls.
