Fairlawn City Code Section 880.18 Local Board of Tax Review

Pursuant to Section 880.18 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Fairlawn and Section 718.11 of the Ohio Revised Code, the Board of Tax Review consists of two members appointed by the City Council and one member appointed by the Mayor.  The members appointed by the City Council serve two-year terms, with no limit on the number of terms they may serve.  The member appointed by the Mayor serves at the Mayor’s discretion.  The City Council or the Mayor may also appoint alternates to serve on the Board in place of members that are temporarily unable to serve.  Such alternates are subject to the same requirements and limitations as the members temporarily unable to serve.

Taxpayers may appeal any assessment, ruling, or decision issued by the Tax Administrator to the Board of Tax Review.  The Board has authority to affirm, reverse, or modify the assessment, ruling, or decision.
