Notice is hereby given that the Fairlawn Civil Service Commission will administer an examination for the above position.
EXAMINATION DATE: Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 5:30 P.M at the Fairlawn-Kiwanis Community Center, 3486 S. Smith Road, Fairlawn OH 44333. The examination will consist of a written test. Successful candidates under consideration for the position will be required to pass a medical examination, psychological examination and a thorough background investigation. A performance test may be required at the Service Director’s discretion.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or proof of G.E.D. A minimum of one (1) year of experience in performing manual labor and operating light, medium and heavy equipment utilized in street maintenance, landscape/grounds maintenance and sewer line maintenance. Work may require heavy physical exertion and may be performed under adverse weather conditions outdoors. Possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, proof of liability insurance when operating a City vehicle, and be insurable under the City’s liability policy. Must possess or be able to obtain a State of Ohio Class B Commercial Driver’s license within ninety (90) days of employment and maintain license throughout the term of employment. If required after hire, must obtain a valid pesticide and/or ornamental weed control application license(s).
Miscellaneous Information
A non-refundable fee of $20.00 is required to take this examination, payable in cash or money order (no personal checks) at the time the application is submitted. An exemption from this fee may be granted upon receipt of a notarized Poverty Affidavit from the applicant. Extra Credit: The following extra credit will be added to your passing score of 70% or above if required documentation is submitted WITH YOUR APPLICATION. • Honorably discharged veterans who are residents of the State of Ohio and have served 6 months or more of active duty in the regular Armed Forces of the United States of America, will be granted 10% extra credit. A copy of Form DD-214 must be submitted with the application to be eligible for this credit.
